Distribution:  Resident from s Baja California, n Sonora, s-c and se Arizona, s New Mexico, and w and s Texas south through Mexico (except the Yucatan) to c Oaxaca and in Chiapas and Guatemala (AOU 1998)

Habitat Associations:  Arid montane scrub, arid lowland scrub, riparian thickets (AOU 1998)
