Nuttall's Woodpecker

 

Common Name:  Nuttall's Woodpecker (NUWO)

Scientific Name:  Picoides nuttallii

Global/Continental Conservation Status:  NOT on the IUCN 2004 Red List

National-level Conservation Status:  Nothing other than coverage under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act

Key Reference(s):  BNA No. 555 (Lowther 2000)

Distribution:  Resident from n California south, west of the deserts and the Sierra divide (also in the Owens Valley ), to nw Baja California .  Casual or accidental in s Oregon , w Nevada , and se California (AOU 1998).

Habitat Associations:  Oak, pine-oak, and riparian (especially willow-cottonwood) woodland (AOU 1998).
