Common Name:  Lawrence 's Goldfinch (LAGO)

Scientific Name:  Carduelis lawrencei

Global/Continental Conservation Status:  Not on IUCN 2004 Red List

National-level Conservation Status:  U.S. – Bird of Conservation Concern

Key Reference(s):  BNA No. 480 (Davis 1999)

Distribution:  Breeds from n-c (casually northwestern) California south (west of the Sierra Nevada) to s California , and in nw Baja California and (formerly) w and s Arizona .  Winters irregularly from n-c California, c Arizona, sw New Mexico (rarely), and w Texas (casually) south to n Baja California (to lat. 30º S.), n Sonora, and s Arizona (AOU 1998).

Habitat Associations:  Oak woodland, chaparral, riparian woodland, pinyon-juniper association, and weedy areas, in arid regions but usually near water (AOU 1998).
