Distribution:
Breeds in n Michigan (from Otsego, extreme sw Presque Isle, and
Alpena counties south to Kalkaska, nw Clare, Roscommon, Ogemaw, and Iosco
counties) and (formerly) s Ontario; has recently (1995,1996) bred in Upper
Peninsula of Michigan. Recorded
in summer (and possibly breeding) in w-c
Wisconsin
(Jackson, Douglas, and Washburn counties).
Winters evidently in the
Bahamas
, but winter distribution largely unknown (AOU 1998).
Habitat
Associations:
Scrubby jack-pine with openings; in winter, in low scrub, thickets,
and (rarely) deciduous woodland (AOU 1998).
