Common Name:  Green Parakeet (GREP)

Scientific Name:  Aratinga holochlora

Global/Continental Conservation Status:  Not on IUCN 2004 Red List

National-level Conservation Status:  Mexico - Normas Oficiales Mexicanas (NOM) para la Proteccion Ambiental (Official Mexican Standards for Environmental Protection) - Threatened

Key Reference(s):  Macias et al. (2000); Collar (1997); Juniper and Parr (1998); Forshaw (1989).

Distribution:  Resident [holochlora group] in sw Chihuahua and ne Sinaloa, wandering to s Sonora, and from s Nuevo León and Tamaulipas s to Veracruz, with disjunct populations in se Oaxaca and Chiapas; [brevipes group] on Socorro Island, in the Revillagigedos; and [rubritorquis group] in the highlands of c and e Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and n Nicaragua (AOU 1998).

Habitat Associations:  [holochlora group] Tropical lowland evergreen forest, tropical deciduous forest, secondary forest, pine-oak forest (0-220 m; Tropical and Subtropical zones) (AOU 1998).
