Common Name:  Five-striped Sparrow (FSSP)

Scientific Name:  Aimophila quinquestriata

Global/Continental Conservation Status:  Not on IUCN 2004 Red List

National-level Conservation Status:  Nothing other than coverage under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act

Key Reference(s):  BNA No. 21 (Groschupf 1992)

Distribution:  Breeds from se Arizona (very locally) south through se Sonora and sw Chihuahua .  Winters in c Sonora , n Sinaloa, and sw Chihuahua , probably farther south (AOU 1998).

Habitat Associations:  Arid Montane Scrub; in winter, also to more open grassy areas (50 – 1850 m; Subtropical Zone; to Tropical Zone in winter) (AOU 1998).
