Global/Continental Conservation Status:  IUCN 2004 Red List – NT (Near Threatened)

National-level Conservation Status:  Nothing other than coverage by Migratory Bird Treat Act

Distribution:  Breeds in sw Texas, w and c Coahuila, w and s Nuevo León, ne Zacatecas, n San Luis Potosí and sw Tamaulipas; winters from s Sinaloa south thru Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán to Guerrero casually to n Oaxaca (AOU 1998)

Habitat Associations:  Pine-oak forest (AOU 1998)
