low precision)
RESEARCH/MONITORING NEEDS (source(s) of needs)
Monitoring
- Priority
monitoring action – Conduct high elevation surveys (PIF Monitoring
Needs doc)
- Update
Christmas Bird Count analyses, evaluate quality of coverage, and
conduct periodic evaluation of status based on compilation of all
available data (Canadian Action Plan)
- Surveys
to determine population estimate, distribution, & density of BLGR
in
New Mexico
(
New Mexico
)
Habitat
Needs/Ecology/Life History
- Long-term,
basic research w/ mission-oriented studies applied to immediate
problems should be priority (BNA)
- Study
BLGR nesting ecology & habitat use (Oregon/Washington)
Effects
of Management Practices
- Effects
of forest management practices on BLGR populations, including effects
of high elevation logging, alternative logging (Canadian Action Plan,
BNA)
- Effects
of grazing by domestic livestock on BLGR (BNA)
